For Ecuador transportation you have a lot of different kind of options:

You can take a bus from Quito (10 hours) to Cuenca (around $10 for Quito to Cuenca or visa versa).

When you are in the city, you can take a bus anywhere in the city for a quarter ($.25).

Taxi drivers you can usually get anywhere from $1.50 - $5.00 depending on how far you are wanting to go. If you are a foreigner, you have to be careful cause they sometimes want to charge you more because you are a foreigner. Especially from the airports, they charge you a lot more from there.

In Cuenca, we can usually have someone to meet you there, since we know english speaking taxi drivers that are not going to rip you off.

We have english speaking taxi drivers that can take you around. If you are wanting a private taxi to take you around all day, it is usually $8-$10 dollars an hour is the normal rate. If you need a bigger truck, like an SUV or something like that, it is generally the same charge: $8-$10 an hour.

From there, you can rent a tour bus or mini-van for a larger group of people, any kind you want. Generally speaking, we can get english speaking drivers so when you go out cruising, you get a driver and interpreter.

The interesting thing is, if you were to hire an english speaking teacher, they charge $8-$10 an hour for just interpreting so this way, you get a driver and interpreter all in one for the one price.

Generally under $10 an hour is if you are wanting to drive far out of town, but for just in town, it can be anywhere from $1.50 - $5.00. We have connections for all those and we are now getting connection in Quito, english speaking taxi drivers that can pick you up at the airport.

Now depending on where you are staying, whether in Quito or Guayaquil, sometimes the hotel will send a driver to pick you up at the airport. They may not speak english but they can hold a sign with your name on it and take you to your hotel. It is good and safe.

You are almost always going to come into Quito or Guayaquil late at night because of how they have the airports set up so you will have to spend the night in one of the two big cities in a hotel or motel. Now, you can spend $100 a night for one of those place. We have places as low as $25 a night. They are very similar as far as comfort, it just depends on whether you are wanting the big named places to stay or not.

The transportation is doable. You can do Tours (see our Tours audio by signing up for our mailing list below) any kind of tours you might want, Horseback Riding, Hiking, Biking, etc.
